Two people were injured after a small aircraft crashed Sunday afternoon in Brimfield Township, Ohio, according to local authorities.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported the crash happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. in Portage County. The aircraft involved was a two-seat Piper Cub that appeared to lose power before going down in a wooded area near the 3200 block of Ranfield Road, west of State Route 44.

Emergency crews, including Fire and EMS personnel, responded to the scene and evaluated the two occupants of the plane on site. Both individuals were later transported for further medical care — one to Cleveland Clinic Akron General and the other to Akron Children’s Hospital. Officials said the injuries were not considered life-threatening.

According to federal aviation records, the aircraft was originally built in 1944, making it more than 80 years old. The plane was also equipped with ski-style landing gear rather than traditional wheels. Ski landing gear is designed to help spread the aircraft’s weight more evenly and absorb impact during certain types of landings.

Authorities said there were no reports of damage to nearby property and no injuries to anyone on the ground.

Investigators have not yet released details about where the flight originated or its intended destination. The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
